American singer Ariana Grande attended the Japan premiere event for the movie "Wicked" (released March 7th, directed by Jon M. Chu) held in Tokyo on February 19th. This is Ariana's first visit to Japan in about eight years since 2017, and she spoke about her love for Japan.
Ariana commented, "I was very sad that I couldn't come to Japan, my favorite country in the world, for a long time, but I'm really happy that I can come this time." At the end, she sent a message in Japanese saying, "I love Japan!"
Also attending the event were British actor Cynthia Erivo, director Jon M. Chu, Mitsuki Takahata, Miisa Shimizu, Kemio, and Yuriyan Retriever.
The movie is about Elphaba and Glinda, who happen to be roommates in a university dormitory. Elphaba, who is discovered to have special powers by the Wizard of Oz, whom everyone admires, travels with Glinda to the Emerald City, which he rules, and there they learn a secret hidden in Oz. It is something that will change the world and the destiny of the two of them forever... This is the story.
