It was revealed on February 12th that actress Alice Hirose will star in the drama series "Nande Watashi ga Kami Sermon" (Saturday 9pm) which will be broadcast on the Nippon Television Network in April. This will be Hirose's first lead role in a drama on the same network, and her first time playing a teacher. Visuals of her new hairstyle with blunt bangs, which will completely change her image, were also released.
The drama is a school entertainment with a "lecturing" theme, with an original script by Okura, who has worked on "Nursing Aide At Your Side" and "Yips". The story follows a Japanese teacher who reluctantly became a high school teacher, and while he plans to avoid trouble and not get too involved, he soon finds himself embroiled in the affairs of his problematic students, and finds himself in a situation where he has to lecture them, even though he doesn't want to.
Hirose plays the main character, Urumi Shizuka, a Japanese teacher and homeroom teacher for class 10 at the private Meishin Academy. She is not good at interacting with people deeply and rarely expresses her thoughts or feelings. Although she appears quiet, she has a very competitive personality and her mind is always full of words. She quit her job due to a certain incident and was unemployed, but reluctantly became a high school teacher at her mother's urging. She tries not to get too involved with her students, but when a student disagrees with her, her competitive side comes out.
Hirose, who is taking on the role of a teacher for the first time, appeared as a student in the drama "35-year-old High School Student" which was broadcast in the same time slot 12 years ago. "I never thought that I would come back as a teacher in the same Saturday drama as an adult! It's very emotional," she said.
Regarding the content, she said, "As the title suggests, the theme of this drama is 'lecturing', but the character I play, Shizuka, is not a passionate teacher. She doesn't really want to lecture students, and she's not very positive about facing students. She's a completely different type of character from teachers that have appeared in school-related works up until now. I think adults will sympathize with the way she is forced into a situation where she has to face problematic students and tries to somehow come up with a lecture that will get through to them." She added, "In a world where it's hard to say what you really want to say, Shizuka's honest words will make you feel refreshed. 12 years ago, I was one of the students and was watching the teacher, but this time, I'm the homeroom teacher and I'm being watched by all the students in the class, so I'm a little pressured (laughs), but I'd like to get a lot of power from my fellow teachers and students."
