The sixth episode of the NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama, "The Scales Are Harmed: The 'Setsyoushu'" will be broadcast on February 9th. From this episode, Tomoya Oku will appear as Tokugawa Iemoto, marking his Taiga debut.
His wife was born on July 18, 2004, and is from Kanagawa Prefecture. In 2020, he made his acting debut in the Netflix original drama "Followers." In the special effects drama "Kamen Rider Revise" (TV Asahi), broadcast from 2021 to 2022, he played Ushijima Hikaru, a member of the underground organization "Weekend," and in episode 35 (broadcast on May 15, 2022), he transformed into "Kamen Rider Overdemon."
Since then, he has been cast in popular productions such as NHK's "Drama 10: Ooku" (2023) and TBS's Sunday Theatre "Last Man - The Blind Investigator" (same channel), and is a rapidly growing young actor in his 20s who will be starring in his first drama lead role in the live-action drama " The Decagon House Murders" (Hulu, 2024).
The character Iemoto Tokugawa that I will be playing in "UNBOUND" was intelligent from an early age, and as he grew older he became interested in politics and criticized the policies of Tanuma Okitsugu. He was expected to have a bright future as the 11th Shogun, but he complained of feeling unwell while out falconry and died mysteriously. In the history of the Tokugawa family, he was the only one who was given the character "ie" (family) but never became Shogun.
He is known as the "legendary 11th shogun, skilled in both the arts and martial arts."
"UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama, depicting the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have built the foundations of Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, known for "Drama 10 'Ooku'" which was broadcast on NHK two years ago and became a big hit.
