The winners of the Best New Actor Award at the 48th Japan Academy Awards, a Japanese film festival, were announced on January 21st. Eight people were selected: Asuka Saito, Shibuya Nagisa, Yamada Anna, Rihito Itagaki, Koshiyama Keita, Saito Jun, and Morimoto Shintaro.
The 48th Japan Academy Awards will be selected by a vote of 4,046 members of the Japan Academy Awards Association from 149 Japanese films and 204 foreign films released between January 1 and December 31, 2024. The Newcomer of the Year award is given to actors who have made an impression by playing a leading or supporting role, even if it is not their first film appearance.
Asuka Saito appeared in "Oshi no Ko-The Final Act-", Shibuya in "Who is that Girl?", Yamada in "Golden Kamuy" and "True Identity", Akaso in "Six Lying College Students" and "If Tokugawa Ieyasu Became Prime Minister", Itagaki in "Legend of the Eight Dogs", "Cells at Work" and "Onmyoji 0", Koshiyama in "My Sun", Saito Jun in "Let's Go to Karaoke!" and Morimoto in "True Identity".
The five films up for the 48th Japan Academy Film Prize are "Kingdom: The Return of the General," "Samurai Time Slipper," "True Identity," "All at Dawn," and "The Last Mile." The awards ceremony will be held on March 14th at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa (Minato Ward, Tokyo), where the winner of the Best Picture award will be announced.
