On January 7th, actor Ryuhei Matsuda appeared at an event for the TV Asahi drama "Detective-san, Your Backpack is Open" (Fridays 11:15pm *excluding some areas) held at Myojinyu, a public bath in Ota Ward, Tokyo, along with co-stars Hikaru Takahashi and Yuki Katayama.
On this day, 30 fans selected by lottery were invited. Although the filming took place in Nagano Prefecture, the event was held at a public bath in Tokyo as they wanted to create an atmosphere similar to the hot spring town where the story takes place. Each visitor was given an original bath additive and a bath ticket that could be used in Tokyo, and they interacted with each other in a talk corner.
Regarding the rare drama event held at a public bath, Matsuda honestly said, "At first I thought it was for real (laughs)," but then added with a smile, "Once I got here I felt warm and fuzzy. It was fun." He was delighted with the closeness to the fans, saying, "It was a sense of distance I don't usually feel (laughs). I'm getting excited. I don't often get the chance to see each person's reaction."
Fans approached him, saying things like, "I've been skipping work," and "I've been supporting you since your dad's (Yusaku Matsuda) days!" to which he politely responded, "Really?!" and "Thank you," expressing his gratitude.
The series, which starts on January Getsuku, is a heartwarming mystery that star Matsuda himself was involved in from the planning stage, teaming up with screenwriter and director Okita Shuichi. Set in the small rural town of Nishigaya Onsen, the story follows detective and inventor Ichinose Yosuke (Matsuda) as he solves the strange requests that come his way one after the other in a relaxed manner, a heartwarming story with laughter and tears. Matsuda said, "I hope it will be a drama that will betray everyone's imagination. There are plenty of things to comment on, so I hope you will watch it while making your own comments."
