On January 7th, WOWOW announced the grand opening of the official website for the "Movie Exam 2026" in collaboration with Kinema Junpo. The Movie Exam was launched in 2006 with the theme of "Learn about movies and enjoy them more," but was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, it will be relaunched for the first time in seven years.
On the official website, you can register your personal page and try a sample exam. Additionally, the programs "Movie Exam 2026 Exam Guide" and "Movie Exam 2026 Mock Exam," which provide details on the "Movie Exam 2026" exam and information on question trends, are available on WOWOW On Demand and the "Movie Exam" YouTube channel. Both programs are hosted by film-loving comedian Koga Ken.
In the "Movie Certification Exam 2026 Guide," film critic Takeo Matsuzaki, a member of the test question creation team, talks about the features planned for the certification system currently under development. He also mentions the genres of questions that will be more prevalent among the 100 questions in the actual exam. The "Movie Certification Exam 2026 Mock Exam" features three people: Yusuke Furuichi from the comedy duo "Kingyo Banchou," Saizō Shiba from the comedy trio "Teiten Keikaku," and Bento from "Zanzo." All three have "Hobby: Watching Movies" listed in their profiles, and they are taking the mock exam for the right to continue listing that hobby in their profiles in the future.
The "Movie Test 2026" will be available via online exam from 10:00 AM on February 6th to 10:00 AM on Getsuku. The exam can be taken at any time during the exam period, with a 65-minute test time and 100 questions. The exam fee (exam ticket) is 5,500 yen, with a WOWOW subscriber discount of 3,300 yen. General exam tickets can be purchased at Lawson Ticket, Ticket Pia, e+, and Seven Tickets until 11:59 PM on March 8th. WOWOW subscriber discount exam tickets can be purchased on the official website until 11:59 PM on February 5th.
