Joichiro Fujiwara , a member of the popular group " Naniwa Danshi ," appeared at a press conference recently held by TV Asahi (Minato Ward, Tokyo) for the network's drama series " Boku no Azatoi Motokano" (Fridays at 11:15pm, starting January 24th), along with co-stars Shiho Kato and Maria Tani Maria.
The show is based on the popular TV Asahi variety show "What's Wrong with Being Azatokute?" (Thursdays at 12:45am, except in some areas), which has a theme of "cunningness." When asked by the host, "Who is the most cunning at the moment?", the three unanimously pointed to Fujiwara.
Pointing at himself, Fujiwara said with a smile, "Since filming began, he's become much more cunning." Tani revealed that "Fujiwara Santa" had brought him food and bath salts during the Christmas season, and testified, "He takes the initiative to go and tell everyone about it, gives him gifts, and smiles, so he looks totally cunning," to which he replied, "I'm not even thinking about it," drawing laughter from those around him.
Kato also agreed, saying, "She's 'shiningly cunning.' I think she has a cunningness that brightens up the people around her." She continued, "She also said, 'When I drink alcohol, I get sleepy,'" revealing the backstage exchange, to which Fujiwara replied with a wry smile, "That's because she's really weak (at alcohol)."
Fujiwara, who says she is now fully aware of her cunning nature, shared an episode, "The other day, I went to a convenience store during a break in filming to buy coffee, but I forgot to fill it with anything and came back with just the coffee cup. I thought, Oh no, I've messed up!" However, Tani immediately retorted, "That's not cunning, you're just stupid (laughs)."
The drama is a new attempt in which the MCs of "What's Wrong with Being Cute?", Ryota Yamazato and Airi Suzuki, comment on the story and lines from the audience's perspective as the story progresses. The drama depicts the love stories of three people: Takumi Sakashita (Fujiwara), who still has feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Mei Sonoda (Kato), Takumi's ex-girlfriend who has acquired the weapon of "cuteness" through hard work, and Asahi Okuyama (Tani), a career woman who has a crush on Takumi.
