It has been revealed that "Fly Me to the Saitama: From Lake Biwa, With Love," a sequel to the movie "Fly Me to Saitama," which was released in 2023, will be broadcast on Fuji TV from 9:00 pm on February 8th. This will be the first time it will be broadcast on terrestrial television, and the full version will be shown uncut.
The previous film, "Fly Me to the Saitama," which was the first live-action adaptation of the popular manga "This Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Comics Fly Me to Saitama" by Maya Mineo, starring GACKT and Nikaido Fumi, sparked an unprecedented "Saitama boom" and recorded a huge hit with box office revenues exceeding 3.76 billion yen. It also won numerous film awards both at home and abroad, including the most awards in 12 categories at the 43rd Japan Academy Awards, including Best Actor and Best Actress.
The sequel, "Fly Me to the Saitama: From Lake Biwa, With Love," released in 2023, will feature new cast members including Anne and Kataoka Ainosuke, and will unfold Japan's greatest farce, jumping out of Saitama and involving the whole of Japan. The film grossed 2.38 billion yen and attracted an audience of over 1.73 million people.
In pursuit of greater peace, Asami Rei (GACKT) and Dannoura Momomi (Nikaido) push forward with a plan to turn Japan into Saitama. Rei comes up with a reckless plan to create a sea in Koshigaya and heads for Shirahama in Wakayama Prefecture. However, it has become a resort for Osakans, and those without a travel pass cannot enter, where Princess Himegimi, the leader of the Wakayama Liberation Front, has been captured. The situation develops into an unprecedented East-West confrontation that will involve the whole of Japan, something no one could have predicted... This is the story.
