Kabuki actor Ichikawa Somegoro will be appearing on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 PM on December 23rd. Somegoro is currently 20 years old. His grandfather was Matsumoto Hakuo II and his father was Matsumoto Koshiro X, making him a "prince of the kabuki world." This will be his fifth appearance on the show, and his first time appearing alone.
When he first appeared on the show at age 7, he asked Kuroyanagi for candy, and when he was 12, he appeared with his grandfather, Hakuo, and his father, Koshiro, when he took over the name of the third generation of his family. Footage from those times will be shown.
Somegoro is active beyond the boundaries of Kabuki, appearing in historical dramas and more. His hobby is drawing pictures of the characters he plays, and he will be showing off some of his favorite works. He will also bring along a stuffed animal that he treasured from his childhood, and talk about his surprising "love for stuffed animals" and his dreams for the future.
