It has been announced that the Blu-ray Disc (BD) of "Daikengo," a robot anime that was popular mainly in the 1970s, will be released on March 12, 2025. The commentary included with the disc will feature an interview with Mitsuko Horie, the "Queen of Anime Songs," who sang the theme song and made her debut as a voice actress in the series.
The series aired a total of 26 episodes on TV Asahi from July 1978 to February 1979. The main staff who had worked on sci-fi hero anime such as "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" and "Space Knight Tekkaman" reunited, with Takahashi Susuke in charge of character design and Kunio Okawara in charge of mechanic design. Yahiro Akira (Anno Masami) served as general director, and Yoshiyuki Tomino also worked on storyboards.
The "Daikengo Blu-ray Limited Pre-Order Edition" will be sold exclusively on the shopping site "Toei Video Online Shop", and will come with an original sleeve by Ochi Kazuhiro.
