It has been announced that actors Keisuke Watanabe and Miori Takimoto will be co-starring in the TV Tokyo series "Zaibatsu Revenge: To My Ex-Wife Who Became My Brother's Wife" (Mondays at 11:06 p.m.), which will begin airing on January 6, 2025. The protagonist, Yukiya Ise, has a history of being oppressed as the son of a mistress, but is also betrayed by his beloved wife Erika Ise, and from rock bottom he risks his life to seek revenge in this thrilling revenge drama. Watanabe plays Yukiya and Takimoto plays Erika. The original is an original vertically read manga co-produced by TV Tokyo and Amuse Creative Studio. The story is characterized by a love-hate swirling story reminiscent of Korean dramas and a raging development. The screenwriter and director of the drama is Naho Uemura, who attracted attention with "Five Ways to Socially Erase Your Husband." Yukiya (Watanabe), the second son of one of Japan's leading Ise zaibatsu, is the child of a mistress. He was raised while being persecuted by his relatives. Yukiya, who left home and became independent, met his destined woman, Erika (Takimoto), and for the first time in his life, he felt "happy". The two then got married, and thought that this happiness would continue forever. However, Erika would do anything to get what she wanted. In order to make the Ise zaibatsu her own, she became pregnant with Yukiya's older brother Masayuki's child and remarried him. Persecuted by his family and betrayed by his beloved wife, the "cuckold" vows to take revenge on the Ise zaibatsu from the depths of despair. Watanabe commented, "When I heard it was a revenge story, I had a gruesome image in my mind, but when I read the script that I received, I felt that it was a story with a core that was well-grounded, with the kindness of director Uemura added as an essence." He also said about his role, "Although he is a planned and smart person, he also has a purity because he grew up without knowing love at a young age. I hope that you will enjoy the movie while empathizing with the underlying reasons for the characters' actions." Takimoto commented on his impression when he received the offer, "I felt that the title had a tremendous message. The story is set in a conglomerate, which is not very familiar in Japan, so I felt it had elements of a Korean drama." Regarding his role, he said, "I think it's cool how he acts greedily to achieve his goals, but he's also a character who has strong feelings due to past experiences," and added, "I hope you can empathize with the interactions between the couple and the issues they each carry, while also enjoying the film purely as entertainment."
