According to the movie attendance rankings for December 5-7 (surveyed by Kogyo Tsushinsha) released on December 8, Disney animation's "Zootopia 2" (directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard) took the top spot on its debut. In the three days since its release on December 5, it attracted an audience of approximately 1,313,000 people and grossed approximately 1.891 billion yen. This was the top opening performance for a foreign film released this year.
Among the works making their debut, the animated feature film "Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise" (directed by Kuji Goro), based on the manga by Takeda Kazuyoshi that depicts the young people who lived on Peleliu Island, a fierce battlefield during the Pacific War, came in sixth, while "Wind Breaker" (directed by Hagiwara Kentaro), a live-action adaptation of Satoru Nii's popular Yankee manga starring actor Koshi Mizukami, came in eighth.
The second place, as it was last week, was "Glory Back Home" (directed by Jun Akiyama). Over the three-day weekend, it recorded an audience of approximately 140,000 people and box office revenue of approximately 200 million yen. Cumulative totals have reached 450,000 people and box office revenue of over 600 million yen. The animated film "Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc" (directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara), which was in 10th place last week, has risen to third place, attracting approximately 100,000 people and box office revenue of approximately 156 million yen over the three-day weekend. Cumulative totals have reached 6.19 million people and box office revenue of over 9.4 billion yen.
"TOKYO Taxi" (directed by Yamada Yoji), which is in its third week of release, is in fourth place, with a cumulative total of 810,000 viewers and box office revenue exceeding 1 billion yen. In fifth place is "Bomb" (directed by Nagai Satoshi), which has a cumulative total of 1.71 million viewers and box office revenue exceeding 2.4 billion yen.
