Yokoyama Yu, a member of the popular group "SUPER EIGHT," appeared at a press conference held in Tokyo on June 25th for the upcoming drama series "Tonight I'm Meeting a Serial Killer Again" (Wednesdays at 11 PM, Kansai TV/Fuji TV), which will begin airing on July 1st.
Yokoyama, who is playing a detective for the sixth time in this series, laughed and said, "I've done three detective dramas in the past year, so I've been chasing criminals for nine months straight." He continued, "But I think we're still able to create something new. There's a manga that it's based on, and the human drama is robust and one of its charms. The actors and staff are working together to make it a passionate drama, and I hope many people will watch it."
When asked by the host, "Are you starting to look like a detective?", he chuckled and replied, "I don't usually act like a detective that much." "But I have been learning the mannerisms and such, so I've been talking with the director about what I think would be better," he said, indicating that he is putting his past experience to good use.
He has been wearing a black leather jacket for photo shoots, and he even grumbled, "It was hot last summer too. I ran marathons. It's hot again this summer in a leather jacket. I wonder how long I'll be wearing this leather jacket (laughs)."
Nagisa Sekimizu, So Okuno, and Hirona Yamazaki also appeared at the press conference.
"Meeting a Serial Killer Tonight" is a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name (original story by Kon Iguchi / manga by Yuji Nakamura) currently serialized in the manga magazine "good! Afternoon" (Kodansha). A lone wolf detective who doesn't like to be part of a group and a woman with the unique ability to see the number of people a serial killer has killed when she touches them secretly team up as partners to take revenge for the loss of loved ones they have each had, and confront a serial killer who blends into everyday life.
