The first chapter of the 2018 NHK Taiga drama "Segodon," starring actor Suzuki Ryohei and depicting the life of Saigo Takamori, titled "Satsuma," will be broadcast on NHK General TV (for Kagoshima Prefecture) from 7:42 PM on December 12th. The rebroadcast comes as a result of requests from Kagoshima residents for more episodes as part of a special project commemorating the 90th anniversary of the opening of NHK Kagoshima Broadcasting Station, "We Want to Watch It Again! Kagoshima's Famous Programs."
Additionally, a talk show entitled "Let's Talk About Love for Kagoshima with Saigo Don" was held in Kagoshima City on October 26th, with guests including lead actor Suzuki. The event will be broadcast on NHK General TV (for Kagoshima Prefecture) from 7:30 pm on the 12th under the title "Special Project for 90 Years of Broadcasting: Talk Show 'Let's Talk About Love for Kagoshima with Saigo Don'." The program will be available for catch-up streaming on NHK ONE for one week after broadcast.
Suzuki commented, "For me, this production feels like a second life. Half of it is due to Saigo's popularity, half to our hard work, and everyone's support, so I think it has become a '200' production in total."Hitomi Miyauchi, who played Saigo Takamori's younger sister Saigo Koto, said, "When I come back to Kagoshima, people say to me, 'I watched 'Saigo Don!' It really shows how much people loved the production, and I'm very happy to have been able to take part in such a production."
