It has been revealed that Atsuya Higashikawa's popular mystery novel "Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de(The After-Dinner Mysteries)" (Shogakukan), which has also been adapted into a live-action film and a stage play, will be made into a TV anime in 2025. It was also announced that Oreco Tachibana, a manga artist known for manga such as "Promise Cinderella" and "Hotaru no Yomeiri", will be creating the original character designs for the anime. A teaser visual drawn by Tachibana has been released.
"Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de" is set in Kunitachi City, Tokyo, and is a full-scale mystery story about a butler detective and a young lady detective, in which Reiko Hosho, a rookie detective at the Kunitachi Police Station but the daughter of the world-famous Hosho Group, encounters a case and is solved by Kageyama, Reiko's butler and driver, who has a sharp deductive ability and a sharp tongue. A serial drama starring Sho Sakurai and Keiko Kitagawa was broadcast on Fuji TV from October to December 2011, and a movie was released in 2013. It has been adapted into a comic book, a stage play, and other media mix. The series has sold over 4.95 million copies in total.
Original author Higashikawa commented, "As the original author, I am very excited to hear that 'After Dinner Mysteries' is being made into an anime. I am very intrigued to see how these characters, who have only ever moved in our imaginations, will come to life and speak. I hope that it will be enjoyed by not only fans of the original work and mystery fans, but also by people who are not."
