"Omusubi" (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8am and others) is the NHK morning drama series starring Hashimoto Kanna. The eighth week, "Goodbye Itoshima, Now Kobe", begins on November 18th and will move on to the "2007 Kobe Again" arc. Here we introduce the notable new cast members and their roles.
In September of this year, seven new cast members were announced for the "2007 Kobe Again" arc: Yamamoto Maika, Taira Yuna, Kote Shinya, Aibu Saki, Mizuma Ron, Matsui Rena and Tabata Shima. This will be Yamamoto, Taira, Mizuma and Tabata's first appearance in a morning drama.
In the "2007 Kobe Return" episode, the heroine, Yoneda Yui (Hashimoto), who experienced the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake at a young age and moved from Kobe to Itoshima, Fukuoka, returns to Kobe with her parents upon graduating from high school with a new dream of becoming a nutritionist.
When she enters a vocational school to train nutritionists, she meets classmates with completely different personalities and values, as well as a teacher who watches over the students with warmth. Furthermore, in the city of Kobe, she and her sister Ayumu (Naka Riisa) are reunited with old friends who are fond memories of their lives.
Yamamoto plays Yabuki Sachi, a classmate of Yui at Kobe Nutrition College who aims to become a sports nutritionist, something that was still rare at the time; Taira plays Yugami Kasumi, a classmate of Yui's who is a true "rich girl" whose parents are practicing doctors; and Kote Shinya plays Morikawa Manabu, another classmate of Yui's who is a former salesman at a real estate company.
Aibu will play Sakuraba Machiko, Yui's homeroom teacher who is a qualified registered dietitian, while Mizuma will play Ishiwata Tsunetsugu, a polite but strict cooking instructor.
Matsui will play Aihara Mika, also known as "Chanmika," Ayumu's friend, and Tabata will play Sakuma Natsumi, Misae's (Kimura Midoriko) daughter and Yui's childhood friend.
"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" about a heroine born in 1989 who connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist, with a "gal spirit" that values being true to herself at all times. The work is an original work by Nemoto Nonji, a screenwriter known for NHK's drama "Honest Real Estate."
