As part of the 10th anniversary project of the popular anime series "Wake Up, Girls! (WUG)," a cheer screening of the legendary last live performance "Wake Up, Girls! FINAL LIVE ~Memories of a Parade~" will be held at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) and other theaters on November 17th. The last live performance held at Saitama Super Arena (Chuo-ku, Saitama City) in March 2019 will be revived on the big screen after about five years. The screening of the last live performance was scheduled to be held in March 2020, but was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19.
"Wake Up, Girls!" is an idol anime that began as a movie anime and a TV anime series in 2014. It depicts the seven girls living in Sendai who form the idol group "Wake Up, Girls!" and compete with each other to become the top. The anime series "Wake Up, Girls!" aired from January to March 2014, and "Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter" aired from October 2017 to January 2018.
The seven members were played by Yoshioka Mayu, Nagano Airi, Tanaka Minami, Aoyama Yoshino, Yamashita Nanami, Okuno Kaya, and Takagi Miyu, who performed as the voice acting unit "Wake Up, Girls!". In 2015, they were recognized for their efforts in supporting the recovery efforts in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and were awarded a Special Award at the 9th Seiyu Awards.
As part of the 10th anniversary project, the Blu-ray Disc box "Wake Up, Girls! 10 Year Anniversary Box," which allows you to enjoy all the anime works at once, the "Wake Up, Girls! Live Complete BOX," which contains a complete recording of the live stage of the voice actor unit "Wake Up, Girls!", the "Wake Up, Girls! Character Song Collection," which includes all the character songs, and the "Wake Up, Girls! Music Collection," which includes a complete collection of all the album songs, will be released simultaneously on November 20th.
