Actor Sorimachi Takashi attended the press conference for the production of the Fuji TV drama "Okura: Unsolved Case Investigation" (Tuesdays at 9pm, starts October 8th) held at Fuji TV headquarters (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on October 3rd, along with co-star Sugino Yosuke and other main cast members. It was revealed that Sorimachi and the cast members had watched the classic drama "Beach Boys" (1997), in which he co-starred with Takenouchi Yutaka, on set.
To commemorate the start of "Okura", "Beach Boys" has been rebroadcast on the Fuji TV station's "Happy Hour" slot (weekdays at 1:50pm, Kanto local) since October 1st. Sayaka Aoki said that she watched the rebroadcast in the anteroom, saying, "I watched it with Sorimachi's commentary! It was a luxury. It's been a long time since so many people have been concentrating and watching TV together (laughs)." Maeda Oshiro also excitedly said, "Everyone was watching it, wasn't they?" On the other hand, Sorimachi said shyly, "I was really embarrassed though (laughs)."
In "Okura," the mismatched buddy duo of the warm-hearted "Showa era detective" Hidaka Chizu, played by Sorimachi, and the cool "Reiwa era detective" Fuwa Riki, played by Sugino, tackle an unsolved case that has been shelved. Sorimachi said, "It's been a long time since I've starred in a Fuji TV drama. When I heard that it was (about) 20 years, I was surprised that it had been that long. In the meantime, I appeared in the drama "Aibou" for almost 10 years, and I learned a lot from my seniors there while making a detective drama. I'm grateful to all the staff for giving me this great opportunity."
It seems that he and his "new buddy" Sugino are in perfect sync. When asked what he wants to do this fall, Sorimachi replied, "Go for a drive with Sugino! To the mountains... like a 'mountain doctor' (laughs)," referring to the drama starring Sugino that will air in July. Sugino responded, "When I heard about Sorimachi's mountain climbing, I got really interested. The other day I said I'd like to go mountain climbing with him, but he brushed me off... But I don't have a car, so can you lend me yours?" To which Sorimachi replied with a smile, "Rent a car!", showing a friendly exchange.
Also in attendance that day were Shiraishi Mai, Hashimoto Jun, Ukaji Takashi, Hirayama Yusuke, Nakamura Shunsuke, and Mizuki Arisa.
