Actor Hashimoto Kanna attended the first week completion press conference for the morning drama series "Omusubi" held at the NHK Broadcasting Center (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) on September 9th. Born in 1989, Hashimoto plays the heroine who encounters "gal culture" in high school and eventually becomes a nutritionist. She said, "When I came face to face with gals in this production, I thought that although there is of course an image of what a gal looks like, it was the spirit that made me feel that way."

Looking back on her own school days, Hashimoto confessed, "There were a lot of girls around me who were interested in gals and fashion, but I wasn't that interested in that, so I didn't go through (the gal thing)."

She continued, "I think that what's called a 'gal mind,' that is, sticking to what you like and being honest, is what makes you cool. Of course, there will be funny scenes in the future where I'll be putting on nails, wearing a blonde wig, layering false eyelashes and painting my eyes black, but I hope that I can learn about the feelings of a gal and become like them throughout the series. I thought that life would be more fun if I could have the feelings of a gal, and that I would like to have those feelings too."

"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" in which the heroine, Yoneda Yui, born in 1989, connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist, with the "gal spirit" of valuing one's individuality at all times. The film is an original work by screenwriter Nemoto Nonji, known for NHK's drama "Shojiki Real Estate."

Hashimoto appealed, "It's completely different from previous morning dramas. It features gal girls and I think it will deliver a very pop and bright morning. I honestly can't wait for people to watch it."

Also attending the press conference were Naka Riisa, who plays Yui's older sister Ayumu, Asou Kumiko, who plays her mother Aiko, and Kitamura Yukiya, who plays her father Masato.

The drama will be broadcast on NHK General TV from September 30th, Monday to Saturday from 8am and other channels.
