Stage play "Jujutsu Kaisen" - Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu begins

The fourth stage production based on Gege Akutami's popular manga "Jujutsu Kaisen," "Stage Play ' Jujutsu Kaisen' - Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu ," opened on August 22nd at the Tennozu Galaxy Theatre (Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo). The story " Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu, " about Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto 's time at Jujutsu Technical College, has been adapted for the stage. Miura Ryosuke, who plays Gojo, commented, "Over the past few years, I have been exposed to the world of ' Jujutsu Kaisen.' Numerous memorable scenes, lines, students... and friends. We have spent time together with countless memories, and finally... at last, our youthful spring has arrived. I am excited for this day to come."

Miura continued, "These are lines that I spoke to the character. The words pierced me as the character, and I felt like I was being crushed. However, his hopes for the future are certain, and I hope that many audiences will be able to witness this historic moment. I will do my best in my performance. Please look forward to it."

Fujita Rei, who plays Suguru Geto, said, "Ryon-kun (Miura), who plays Satoru, and I have carefully crafted the relationship between the two characters. During rehearsals, the entire company, including director (Kobayashi) Kensaku, worked together to carefully weave the play through trial and error. I think we have been able to incorporate the wonderful story and message of the original work into the stage production while still respecting it. I am very much looking forward to being able to bring the story of these two strongest characters to everyone."

Kubota Yuuki, who plays Fushiguro Toji, commented, "The youth of those two is finally before everyone's eyes. The man smoking a cigarette, the guy gambling...oh, I'm wrong. It's not those two. Immerse yourself in the youth of Gojo and Geto this summer."

The play will run from August 22nd to 31st at the Tennozu Galaxy Theatre (Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo) and from September 5th to 7th at Sky Theatre MBS.

"Jujutsu Kaisen" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from March 2018 to September 2024. The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori, who is thrown into a world of battles over curses after a powerful "cursed object" is unsealed. The comic series has sold over 100 million copies in total.

The TV anime is also gaining popularity, and the production of a second season, "Culling Game," has been announced. A compilation of the second season, "The Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu," "The Jujutsu Kaisen: The Complete Movie - Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu," was released in May. To commemorate the release of this film, a re-screening of "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" will be held from October 17th.
