The 10th episode of Fuji TV's "Monday 9" drama series "The Beginning of the Sea" (Mondays at 9pm), starring Meguro Ren of the popular group "Snow Man", will be broadcast on September 9th.

In the previous episode... Yayoi (Arimura Kasumi) reads the letter written by Mizuki (Furukawa Kotone) and says goodbye to Natsu (Meguro). Natsu walks Yayoi to the station, and the two sit on a bench on the platform and laugh as they talk about trivial things.

As the last train approaches, Yayoi lets go of Natsu's hand and cheers him on, saying, "Good luck, Dad. I'm rooting for you," before turning her back to board the train. Natsu breaks down on the platform with a messy face, and Yayoi also sheds tears alone on the train.

In the 10th episode... Natsu breaks up with Yayoi, who he has been dating for over three years, and decides to live alone with his daughter, Nagumo Kai (Izumiya Sena).

At night, while searching for information on "support for single parents" on her computer, Natsu happens to pick up her workbook, sees an empty name column and takes out a pen. She stops when she writes "Nagumo" and wonders what she should do with Umi's surname.

Natsu goes to an izakaya with Fujii (Nakajima Ayumu), a senior at her company, and tells him that she has a daughter and that she has decided to live with her. Fujii then tells her about how he had a hard time just getting his child to eat and go to bed when his wife was hospitalized.

Natsu says that she is prepared for that, and is considering changing jobs herself to avoid having Umi transfer schools, and wants to find a way to avoid putting stress on her child, but Fujii tells her, "If a parent becomes exhausted from stress, it will be a secondary disaster for the child."

Natsu goes to pick up Umi from her elementary school in Odawara. The two walk together, talking about memories of her late mother, Mizuki, and about school. Natsu asks Umi, "What do you think about transferring schools?" to which Umi replies, "No." Umi says, "A lot of things have changed since Mama left, Umi. Do you still have to change? Why?" Natsu is at a loss for words...

The drama is a completely original work with the theme of "parent-child love," with a screenplay by Miku Ubukata, direction by Taiki Kazama, and production by Ken Murase, reuniting the team behind "silent" in the October 2022 season.
