The main footage of the Japan-Taiwan co-produced film "Candlestick" (directed by Kota Yonekura, to be released on July 4th), starring actor Hiroshi Abe, was released on June 11th. The footage features Kenjiro Tsuda, who turned 54 on the same day.
In this film, Tsuda plays Isao, a mathematician and ex-husband of the heroine Kyoko (Nanao). As Kyoko meets Nohara (Abe), a genius programmer, and embarks on a new love, Isao quietly accepts the relationship and begins to reflect on himself. In the newly released footage, Isao is seen teaching at a cram school after breaking up with Kyoko. While drawing mathematical formulas on the whiteboard, Isao passionately talks about the "fruit theory" he invented. However, when a student asks him, "Teacher, will that be on the test?" he replies, "No, it won't be," and continues teaching calmly...
The film is based on the novel "Soshikiri: FX Simulation Success Story" by Tetsuhiko Kawamura. Set in Japan, Taiwan, Iran, and Hawaii, the story follows Nohara, a former genius white hat hacker who lost everything, played by Abe, who plots to deceive the impregnable AI that is the "guardian of the financial market" and make a fortune in the FX market.
