Actor Takako Matsu appeared at the completion preview event for the movie "On the Sands of Summer" (directed by Tamada Shinya, to be released on July 4th) held in Tokyo on June 17th. She blushed and laughed when her co-star Moriyama Naotaro said that she looked like she was in a scene from the movie after taking a bath.
The film is based on a play by Masataka Matsuda, with actor Joe Odagiri starring and co-produced, and written by director Tamada. Set in the rainless summer of Nagasaki, Osamu Koura (Odagiri), whose life has stopped due to the sense of loss he feels after losing his son and whose wife has abandoned him, ends up living with his niece Yuko (Akari Takaishi), who was left behind by his sister. The film depicts how, in a heart as dry as summer sand, he finds a small bud of hope.
When asked about an episode that touched his heart, in reference to the film's depiction of a ray of hope seeping into a heart as dry as summer sand, Moriyama replied, "Matsu-san in a yukata." "The entire shoot was in Nagasaki, and we all stayed in the same hotel, so it was like a training camp. As we were drinking with Odagiri-san in the lobby, Matsu-san, clad in a yukata straight out of the bath, sauntered past like a scene from a movie. Everyone looked on in envy," Matsu-san said, laughing shyly, "I was having a vision. No way!"
Odagiri, Takaishi, Hikari Mitsushima, Fumiya Takahashi, Ken Mitsuishi, and director Tamada also appeared at the event.
