Episode 9 tells the story of a serial murder case that begins with the digging up of a time capsule for the first time in 22 years, and the remaining targets are Takagi and Koyama (Shintaro Morimoto).
At the snack bar "Imakuni," Mori (Furudate Yutaro) watches a DVD of his elementary school days with Takagi and the others. He reveals that Seto Shion, the forgotten "Do-ko," was a classmate in 5th grade class 1, and that he transferred schools after being bullied by Takagi and the others shortly after class changes. Seto's concentration was disrupted by Takagi and the others fooling around, and he missed the note "Do" on a recorder test. Takagi laughed, saying, "You're 'Do-ko' because you can't hit Do!" This was the beginning of his bullying.
Afterwards, Takagi and his friends go to the home of Seto (Ohgo Suzuka), who runs a piano school. When Takagi sees the house, he remembers visiting this place with his daughter Kanon (Miyazaki Ririsa), who wanted to learn piano. Furthermore, when Sonoko (Araki) searches the mailbox, she finds mail addressed to "Seto Shion" and "Utsumi Kei." Then, from Imakuni (Junki Tozuka), it is revealed that Seto was the fiancé of detective Utsumi (Subaru Kimura), who died a year ago.
Meanwhile, Utsumi, who was visiting Koyama's company, strangles him to death. While on the run, Utsumi visits Takagi's house and reveals that he killed Koyama and the others, and that Seto committed suicide after being unable to play the piano due to the trauma of past bullying. Meanwhile, Sonoko learns that Seto has transferred to Takuto Academy, a school for students who have stopped attending school, and visits the school. There, Sonoko learns that a memorial concert for Seto will be held... and so the story unfolds.
Later in the episode, Utsumi plays the piano at a memorial concert for Seto Shion. Takagi, who has been watching from the audience, tries to approach Utsumi after he finishes his performance, holding a cutter, but at that moment, police officers who had been waiting on standby burst in and arrest Utsumi. Takagi hastily picks up the cutter he dropped when he bumped into the police, and leans against the wall, breathing heavily.
On social media, many voices of opposition were directed at Takagi, who bullied Seto, forcing him to transfer schools, and then bullied Sonoko, sparking a series of murders, and finally, in a fit of rage, tried to attack the "culprit" Utsumi. Comments included, "I can't sympathize with him at all," "King is a typical bully," "King is too much of a war criminal!", "It's amazing how the main character becomes hated at the end," "Even though he's grown up and has a family, the young King is still there," "If it's for revenge, then it's only natural that people say he hasn't grown up and never changed," "I thought this guy really hasn't changed even as an adult," and "King is just plain scum."
