It has been announced that Emily Bronte's best-selling novel of the century, Wuthering Heights, the only work she ever wrote, will be made into a film starring actress Margot Robbie in 2026. Robbie will also serve as producer. A Teaser trailer has also been released.
The story is set in Yorkshire, in the north of England. Catherine (Robbie), the beautiful daughter of the Earnshaw family, who live in the desolate Wuthering Heights estate, and Heathcliff (Jacob Elordi), an orphan who has been taken in by the estate, are two people of different social status who fall in love and long for each other. However, their love, which they have vowed to be eternal, soon turns into a mad, destructive revenge, causing many tragedies...
The film is directed and written by Emerald Fennell, the first British female director to win an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and the theme song will be performed by Charli XCX.
