"YamaTalk <Scenario Edition> [Pre-recorded Version]," in which staff from " Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 ," the latest installment in the remake series of the popular anime " Space Battleship Yamato ," talk about the behind-the-scenes production of the fourth chapter, "Sasha," was screened at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) and other locations from October 17th to 23rd. This was the first attempt to screen a pre-recorded program in theaters, allowing more people to enjoy the talk events that have been held so far. In addition to general director Harutoshi Fukui, director Naomichi Yamato, and screenwriter Hideki Oka, guest anime and special effects researcher Ryusuke Hikawa and host Eriko Nakamura, voice actress for Mikage Kiryu, also appeared.
"Yamato 3199" is a new interpretation of the original works " Be Forever Yamato" and "Space Battleship Yamato III." A grown-up Sasha appears in the fourth chapter, and it is revealed that she grew up in a special environment. Fukui explained about the grown-up Sasha, "She suddenly gets too close and doesn't know how to keep a distance. If someone tells her to 'enough', she'll cry right away. If she's not careful, she could become an annoying character, but she keeps to the edge of it. I try to show her thoughts in her own way through the direction. I was conscious of that balance."
It has also been a hot topic that Megumi Han will be playing Sasha in "Yamato 3199." In "Be Forever Yamato," Megumi's mother, Keiko Han, played Sasha, and she will be taking over the role from her mother.
Oka revealed what went on behind the scenes of the recording, saying, "At first, I asked Megumi Pan to try out three different patterns: A, B, and C. I thought that the only option was "A," which looked just like Sasha from 'Forever,' but Fukui said "C." I chose "C," which feels more human. People say that Megumi's Sasha looks just like Keiko's, but there are different feelings behind it."
"Yamato 3199" consists of seven chapters, with the fifth chapter, "The Incandescent Galactic War," set to premiere on February 20, 2026.
