It has been announced that the first and second seasons of the TV anime "The Returnee's Magic is Special," based on a manga optimized for smartphones called SMARTOON, will be broadcast on Fuji TV. The first season of the anime aired on TOKYO MX and other channels from October to December 2023, and the first season will begin airing on Fuji TV on July 2nd, with the second season airing from October in the network's late-night anime block "+Ultra." This will be the first time the series has been broadcast on Fuji TV. It was also announced that the band "FLOW" will be providing the opening theme for the second season, following their work on the first season.
"The Returnee's Magic is Special" tells the story of Desir Arman and his companions as they confront Boromir Napol, the final boss of the Shadow Labyrinth in the alternate dimension of the Shadow World, but the world is destroyed, and they return to the world 13 years in the past. Desir returns to the entrance ceremony of Hebrion Academy, his alma mater and the empire's most prestigious magic academy, and gathers his friends once again to change the future and save the world.
The anime will be directed by Taishi Kawaguchi and produced by Arvo Animation. In addition to Takuma Terashima as Desire, the cast will include Sayumi Suzushiro, Natsumi Fujiwara, and Asami Seto.
