It has been revealed that a third printing has been ordered for "Weekly Bunshun Entertainment + Special Feature: Mobile Police Patlabor" (Bungei Shunju), a mook (magazine-book) featuring the popular anime series "Mobile Police Patlabor." Due to overwhelming pre-orders, a reprint was decided before the May 15th release date, and it quickly sold out in bookstores, leading to the decision for a third printing just three days after its release.
The magazine features interviews with the cast and staff of the new anime "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY," a dialogue between directors Mamoru Oshii and Yutaka Izubuchi, and articles such as "A Bunshun Scoop in the 'Patlabor' World!?", "Is a New Unit Being Established in the Metropolitan Police Department's Labor Corps? The Introduction of New Machines and the Shinohara Heavy Industries and Metropolitan Police Department's 'Billions of Yen Honeymoon'", and "The 'Black Labor Incident': The Romance Between the Mastermind and a Female Police Officer Comes to Light, and the Darkness of Metropolitan Police Department Personnel Management Lurking in the Background." The "Full-Color 'Entertainment+' Beauty Encyclopedia" features Shinobu Nagumo, the commander of the Special Vehicles Division 2, 1st Platoon.
"Mobile Police Patlabor" is a multimedia project created by the legendary creative group "HEADGEAR," consisting of Masami Yuki, Yutaka Izubuchi, Kazunori Ito, Akemi Takada, and Mamoru Oshii. It began in 1988 with an OVA (Original Video Animation) called "Early Days," and has since expanded into manga by Yuki, television anime, theatrical anime films, novels, audio dramas, games, and live-action films.
The new anime series, "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY," has also been generating buzz. The new series consists of three chapters and eight episodes in total, with the first chapter released in theaters on May 15th. The second chapter will be released on August 14th, and the third chapter in March 2027.
