"Ryu to Ichigo," a shogi manga by Mitsuharu Yanagimoto, known for works such as "Hibiki: How to Become a Novelist," will conclude its run in the June 3rd issue (No. 27) of the magazine in which it was serialized, "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan), bringing its approximately six-year serialization to an end.
"Ryu to Ichigo" (Dragon and Strawberry) follows the story of Ichigo Aida, a prodigy girl who takes on the world of shogi head-on. Ichigo wins the seven-game Ryuo title match, becoming the first amateur and female Ryuo to win the title. 100 years in the future, Ichigo, somehow unchanged, advances through the Ryuo tournament, battling shogi AI developed by various companies. The series began serialization in May 2020, and the cumulative circulation of the comics has exceeded 1 million copies. Volume 27 will be released on June 18th, volume 28 on July 16th, and the final volume 29 on August 18th.
The final chapter will be released on the manga app "Sunday Webry" on June 10th. To commemorate the series' conclusion, a free 25-volume campaign will be held from June 18th to July 1st.
