Actor Yuto Nakajima attended the Japan premiere of the film "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Glogo" (directed by Jon Favreau, released simultaneously in Japan and the US on May 22) held in Tokyo on May 19. This was Nakajima's first public appearance since marrying actress Yuko Araki last month.
Nakajima, a huge Star Wars fan and Japan's Star Wars Ambassador, said she had the chance to see the movie ahead of its release, and gave a triumphant fist pump, exclaiming, "Everyone, Star Wars is back in theaters!" She added, "I'm so grateful just to be able to have this experience, but the movie really does take everyone on a wonderful adventure."
When Nakajima met with Pedro Pascal, who plays the Mandalorian, and his partner Glogu, who possesses immense Force powers, as well as director Favreau, who also served as producer and co-screenwriter, Nakajima presented them with a traditional Kyoto umbrella adorned with images of the Mandalorian and Glogu, handcrafted by a Kyoto artisan, as a token of Japanese hospitality.
Director Favreau and others visited Japan for the first time in 17 years since "Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025," the Star Wars festival held in Japan last year. The excitement of the celebration, which attracted more than 105,000 visitors from approximately 125 countries around the world, was once again swept across Japan.
The latest film in the series, "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Glogo," the first theatrical release in seven years, is set after the death of Darth Vader and the collapse of the Empire. In a galaxy that has become a lawless wasteland, the Mandalorian, a solitary bounty hunter who perfectly completes every job while adhering to strict rules under the motto "Our Way," gradually develops a father-son-like bond with Glogo, the mischievous and gluttonous "The Child," who possesses immense Force powers, during their journey together. "He'll outlive me. I can't protect him forever..." The story follows these two bound by an unbreakable bond as they confront destiny to prevent a new war aimed at the resurgence of the Empire.
