It has been announced that a new short story written by the original author, Tsutomu Satou, titled "The Irregular at Magic High School: Astro Buddy," will be distributed starting May 23rd as a special bonus for moviegoers during the third week of screenings of "The Irregular at Magic High School: The Irregular at Magic High School Succession Arc," the theatrical anime film based on the popular light novel series "The Irregular at Magic High School" from Dengeki Bunko (KADOKAWA). The story is set in a world where humanity has expanded into space using magic, and follows Tatsuya, the pilot of the Yotsuba, and Ichijo, the ace of the Japanese Space Force, as they embark on a mission to eliminate pirates.
As a second-round first-come-first-served bonus, a set of three newly drawn mini shikishi-style cards (randomly selected) will be distributed starting May 23rd. The visuals for all three types of mini shikishi-style cards, newly drawn by Kana Ishida, who is in charge of the original illustrations, have been revealed.
"The Irregular at Magic High School" is set at the First High School Affiliated with the National Magic University (Magic High School), which trains magic users, and depicts the adventures of siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba. The series has sold over 25 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired in 2014, and the theatrical anime film "The Irregular at Magic High School: The Girl Who Summons the Stars" was released in 2017. The second season of the TV anime, "The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor Arc," aired in 2020, and "The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc" aired on January 1, 2022. The third season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2024. "The Irregular at Magic High School: Yotsuba Succession Arc" was released on May 8.
