Episode 8, "Hyakka," of the TV anime "MAO," based on the latest work by Rumiko Takahashi , known for manga such as " Urusei Yatsura ," "Ranma 1/2," and "Inuyasha," will be broadcast on NHK General on May 23rd at 11:45 PM.
Mao and his companions are attacked by their senior disciple, Hyakka, who wields fire magic. Hyakka dies once but immediately comes back to life. Hyakka has also been alive for 900 years. According to Hyakka, 900 years ago, five disciples were summoned to the Five-Colored Hall by their master.
The original manga has been serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) since May 2019. Set in the Taisho era, it's a dark fantasy x time-slip mystery about Mao, an onmyoji (exorcist) who has lived for 900 years, who meets Kiyoha Nanaka, a girl who has wandered in from the Reiwa era, and together they confront a chain of curses. The anime is directed by Teruo Sato and produced by Sunrise. It will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons.
