The 29th and latest film in the popular anime series " Detective Conan, " based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama , titled " Detective Conan: Fallen Angel on the Highway," has surpassed 10.88 billion yen in box office revenue in just 27 days since its release on April 10th. Following "Submarine" (released in 2023), "Million Dollar Star" (released in 2024), and "Flashback" (released in 2025), it has achieved the One-Eyed Flashback feat of surpassing 10 billion yen in box office revenue for four consecutive years, a first in Japanese film history. The film has also been a huge hit, with over 7.4 million viewers.
To celebrate the film surpassing 10 billion yen in box office revenue, original author Aoyama has released a new illustration featuring Edogawa Conan, Hagiwara Chihaya, Hagiwara Kenji, and Matsuda Jinpei. Starting May 8th, in addition to the first "Theater-Exclusive Digital Illustration," a "10 Billion Yen Revenue Celebration Illustration by Aoyama-sensei" using this new illustration will be distributed as a theatergoer's gift, personalized with the viewing date and the recipient's name. A promotional video featuring the theme song "Last Dance with You," sung by singer MISIA, has been released on YouTube.
The 29th film in the series, "Fallen Angel on the Highway," opened on April 10th in 526 theaters, the largest release in the series' history. This surpasses the 522 theaters for the previous film. The story is set in Yokohama, where Conan and his friends are visiting the Kanagawa Motorcycle Festival when a mysterious black motorcycle suddenly appears, speeding out of control. Chasing it is Chihaya Hagiwara, a police officer from the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Traffic Mobile Unit, whom Ran had previously seen as the "Goddess of Wind." Later at the festival, the latest technology-equipped police motorcycle, "Angel," is unveiled. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a black motorcycle ("Lucifer") goes on a rampage. Ryusei Yokohama and Mei Hata make guest voice appearances.
"Detective Conan" is a manga series depicting the adventures of Conan Edogawa as he solves a series of difficult cases. It began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) in 1994. The cumulative circulation of the comic books exceeds 270 million copies. The TV anime has been airing since 1996, and the first theatrical film, "Detective Conan: The Time-Bombed Skyscraper," was released in 1997.
The 28th Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback," released in 2025, grossed approximately 14.6 billion yen, setting new records for Japanese films by surpassing 10 billion yen in box office revenue for the third consecutive year and exceeding 10 million viewers for the second consecutive year.
