Masayuki Watanabe of the comedy trio "Cont Akashingo" will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which airs at 1 PM on May 7th.
Mr. Watanabe celebrated his 70th birthday in January of this year. He had something to be happy about since turning 70: he took the kendo promotion exam and passed with flying colors. He says he has been diligently practicing since his promotion and has recently been getting together with fellow kendo practitioners who are also celebrities. On the other hand, he had a major mishap with his hobby of golf: he misunderstood the schedule for a live radio broadcast and ended up broadcasting from a golf course at the last minute... He also shared other stories about his golf mishaps.
In his personal life, he lives with his wife of 27 years and their two dogs, and now the dogs serve as a bridge between him and his wife. His beloved daughter has grown up and moved out, but when she turned 20, they opened a bottle of wine from her birth year to celebrate her coming of age. He reveals that when his daughter was a student, he and she went on a trip abroad together, which became a memorable time for them. He and his daughter share the same birthday, and they celebrated it by holding a family birthday party and exchanging gifts.
