The third episode of the drama series "Galaxy Vote" (Kansai TV/Fuji TV, Mondays at 10 PM), starring actress Haru Kuroki, aired on May 4th. The exchange between Mari (Kuroki) and Akari (Kayo Noro) at the end of the episode brought viewers to tears.
◇The following contains spoilers.
"I'm sorry for being selfish. Please give me a reason to live."
Akari had previously refused Mari's pleas to run for governor of Tokyo, but she finally decided to run and told Mari.
With tears welling up in her eyes, Akari honestly expressed her feelings, saying, "Even if something you cherished is gone, there's nothing to worry about. It's a world where you can move towards the bright side while remaining true to yourself. It might sound like a pretty ideal, but..."
Taking Akari's hand, Mari replied, "It's not just empty words. It's a beautiful thing!" and smiled brightly. Immediately afterward, she surprised Akari by suggesting, "Then let's start with a policy to raise wages for care workers."
On social media, comments included: "I was deeply moved again today by the line, 'It's not just empty words. It's a beautiful thing,'" "I cried all day again today watching Mari and Akari's tears," "I can't take my eyes off Mari and Akari," and "The combination of Noro Kayo and Kuroki Hana is perfect and just amazing."
The drama is an "election entertainment" story in which Mari Hoshino scouts Akari Tsukioka, a bar owner with no political experience, to be her election strategist, and together they take on the Tokyo gubernatorial election.
