The fifth episode of the TBS Tuesday drama "Toki Sude ni Osushi!?" (Tuesdays at 10 PM), starring actress Hiromi Nagasaku, will air on May 5th. We spoke to producer Chiaki Masuda about the highlights and behind-the-scenes stories from the filming.
The drama tells the story of Minato Machiyama (played by Nagasaku), who, having finished raising her children, is bewildered by the "time to herself" that she finally has again at the age of 50, but begins her second life and jumps into a "sushi academy" where she can become a sushi chef in three months.
◇Highlights of Episode 5
Both their lives and their classes at Yokota Sushi Academy have reached the halfway point! The Minato students are about to have one-on-one career guidance interviews with Oedo (Kenichi Matsuyama).
Minato is at a loss as to what to do after graduation, not having thought about anything beyond a career guidance interview as an adult! Meanwhile, Mori (Soma Santoki), who was supposed to be the most single-minded in his class to become a sushi chef, is confronted by his mother after she finds out he secretly dropped out of university and is attending an academy...? Minato gets caught up in Mori's family problems and finds himself embroiled in a series of events he could never have imagined.
The story moves outside the sushi academy! The Mori family, a powerful duo, will appear, with Denden-san as Mori's grandfather and Eriko Sato as his mother. Don't miss it, as the story unfolds rapidly, accompanied by delicious scenes that will make you want to eat sushi just by watching!
◇Behind-the-scenes stories from the filming of Episode 4
In the scene at the yakiniku restaurant, Minato confides in Oedo about what she's been holding inside. Because the scene gradually delved into deeper issues, the filming required even more concentration than usual. The expression on Minato's face at the moment she finally confided, and Nagasaku's acting, were so breathtaking that I felt no further explanation was needed. After the cut, the director and we, who were watching on the monitor, were left speechless.
On the other hand, in terms of aspects that are not usually seen by others, this episode also offered a glimpse into aspects of Professor Oedo that we didn't know about, such as her playful interactions with Hotate, the pug dog owned by Shiori Doi(Shiori Doi), and her incomprehensible sleep-talking.
In fact, the cast members, including Matsuyama, got to know Hotate well by communicating with him before and during filming, and whenever Hotate came to the set, a crowd would gather around him. The entire cast and crew were all smitten with him during filming!
