The popular manga "Space Brothers" by Chūya Koyama, which has been adapted into an anime and a live-action film, will conclude its approximately 18-year run with the final chapter in the 28th issue of the magazine "Morning" (Kodansha), released on June 11th. Chapter 431 will be published in the 27th issue of the magazine, released on June 4th, and the final chapter, chapter 432, will be published in the 28th issue, released on June 11th. The manga will grace the cover of both issues. The final volume of the manga, volume 46, will be released on July 23rd.
"Space Brothers" began serialization in "Morning" in December 2007 and became a huge hit, winning both the 56th Shogakukan Manga Award (General Category) and the 35th Kodansha Manga Award (General Category) in 2011. The story follows two brothers who, as children, promised to become astronauts but ended up on different paths, yet both still aim for space.
An anime television series aired from 2012 to 2014, and a live-action film starring Shun Oguri and Masaki Okada was also released in 2012.
