To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the broadcast of the robot anime "Chōdenji Robo Combattler V," which aired from 1976 to 1977, an HD remastered Blu-ray disc (BD) box set will be released on August 5th. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, who was in charge of the animation character design, drew the jacket artwork. A commercial narrated by Yuji Mitsuya, who played the main character Hyōma Aoi, has also been released.
The limited pre-order edition sold at the "Toei Video Online Shop" includes an 88-page setting materials booklet, a reprinted storyboard for episode 16, "Emergency! Unit 1 Crashes," and a bonus disc containing the 1977 theatrical film "The Great Mecha-Kerotto," among other content. The booklet also features interviews with Mr. Yasuhiko and Mr. Mitsuya.
"Super Electromagnetic Robot Combattler V" depicts the giant robot Combattler V, which combines using the power of super-electromagnetic forces, battling the Campbell aliens who were hiding underground.
