Singer Hiromi Iwasaki will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which airs on April 7th at 1 PM.
She celebrated her 50th anniversary since her debut. In the early days of her career, she was known as "Hiromi the pinch hitter," and sometimes sang in place of senior singers like Miyoko Asada. Of all the things that have been memorable in her 50-year singing career, she says it was singing in front of the pyramids 40 years ago. She displays the costume she wore at that time in the studio and talks about her mysterious experience with the power of the pyramids.
Last year, she appeared on NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen for the first time in 37 years. She managed to pull it off with the help of her eldest son, who has become her manager, and her second son, who came to help her out. She says that her greatest source of comfort amidst her busy daily life is her two-year-old grandchild. When a video of her grandchild imitating her singing was shown, Kuroyanagi repeatedly exclaimed, "So cute!"
