It has been announced that the second season of the TV anime " The Elusive Samurai ," based on the manga by Yusei Matsui , known for " Neuro: Supernatural Detective Neuro" and "Assassination Classroom, " will air on Fuji TV's anime block "Noitamina" every Friday at 11:30 PM starting July 17th. It was also announced that Kento Nakajima will be in charge of the opening theme song, "Onigoto," and a main PV featuring the song has been released. The PV depicts the Nigejou no Wakagimi finally beginning to move towards recapturing Kamakura.
Nakajima commented, "I've loved history since I was a child, and I often talked about Japanese history with my grandfather. This time, I am grateful to be able to sing 'Onigoto' while feeling the turbulent era from the Kamakura period to the Nanboku-cho period through the character of Hojo Tokiyuki. As a history lover, I would like to liven up the opening of ' The Elusive Samurai' as a young lord of this era. From the young lord who is good at striking poses."
"The Young The Elusive Samurai" is a "tale of escape" based on the historical facts of Hojo Tokiyuki, a young warrior skilled at escaping, who wandered, hid, and sought revenge. In 1333, the Kamakura Shogunate was suddenly destroyed by a rebellion, and Hojo Tokiyuki, who was supposed to be the successor to the shogunate, was lured by Suwa Yorishige, a Shinto priest from Shinano Province, and began his journey to escape and become a hero. This new series by Matsui, his first in about five years since "Assassination Classroom," began in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) in January 2021. The final chapter was published in February, bringing the approximately five-year serialization to a close. The comic books have sold over 5 million copies in total. The first season of the TV anime aired from July to September 2024.
