Shinobu Ugetsu, a character from the TV anime "Tune In to the Midnight Heart," based on the romantic comedy manga by Masakuni Igarashi serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), made a surprise appearance at Kansai TV's (KTV) entrance ceremony on April 1st. Shinobu Ugetsu is one of the heroines who dreams of becoming an announcer, and she has achieved her dream by being hired as an announcer at KTV. A desk for Shinobu Ugetsu has been set up in the announcing department, and a nameplate with "Ugetsu" has been placed on the schedule board. Shinobu Ugetsu's joining KTV was an April Fool's Day project in collaboration with the manga and KTV.
When Shinobu Ugetsu made a surprise appearance at the company's induction ceremony, all the new employees seemed unable to hide their surprise. Shinobu Ugetsu said, "Hello everyone, nice to meet you! I'm Shinobu Ugetsu! I've joined Kansai TV as a new announcer. I'm so happy to be able to start my career as an announcer, something I've always dreamed of! I have a sweet tooth, so I'll do my best to try my hand at food reporting so that I can share delicious Kansai sweets with many people! I'll work hard to become a great announcer, following in the footsteps of my idols, announcers Keiko Fujimoto and Ren Nishinaka, and also Yuhi Hattori, who I worked with in the PR department, so I would appreciate your guidance and encouragement. And to all the new employees, let's work together to make Kansai TV even better!"
In response to Shinobu Ugetsu's words, "I want to follow in your footsteps," announcer Hattori shouted, "Shinobu! Do your best!" which created a lively atmosphere. "Tune In to the Midnight Heart" is a manga by Igarashi, known for works such as "Senryu Girl," which was also adapted into a TV anime, and began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" in September 2023. It is a romantic comedy in which second-year high school student Yamabuki Arisu searches for a streamer girl named Apollo whose face and real name he doesn't know, and meets four beautiful girls in the broadcasting club of the high school he will be attending who dream of working in jobs related to their voices.
The first season of the TV anime aired from January to March on Kansai TV and Fuji TV's Tuesday 11 PM anime block, "Ka-Ani-Bal!!". Production of a second season has also been announced.
