The synopsis for the latest installment of NHK's popular drama series "Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe," titled "Kyoka Izumi Won't Be Silent" (airing May 4th), has been released, along with an "alternate visual." The visual captures the protagonist of this installment, Kyoka Izumi (Marie Iitoyo), with Rohan Kishibe (Issei Issei Takahashi) visible in the background. According to the network, it is "a scene in a cafe that connects to the story."
"Izumi Kyoka Won't Be Silent" is the first story in which Kyoka, the editor and good partner of popular manga artist Rohan Kishibe in the "Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe Kishibe" series, takes center stage. With script cooperation from the original author Hirohiko Araki, it is the first original story in the series, written by directors Tomotaro Seki and Kentaro Hirase of the directing group "May". It will be broadcast on NHK General from 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM on May 4th.
It was also announced that Mayu Hotta, Kanichiro, and Jun Hashimoto will be joining the cast. Hotta will play Mika Nishion, a rookie manga artist; Kanichiro will play Mika's twin brother, Soushi; and Hashimoto will play Kyoka's boyfriend, Kansuke.
The drama series "Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe " is a live-action adaptation of the spin-off " Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe " (Shueisha), which features Rohan Kishibe, a character from Hirohiko Araki 's popular manga series "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure" (Shueisha), as the protagonist. It is a suspense horror story in which Rohan, a manga artist with the ability to turn people into books and "read" their backgrounds and thoughts, encounters strange incidents and inexplicable phenomena. The first season aired in December 2020, the second season in December 2021, the third season in December 2022, and the fourth season in May 2024. It has also been made into a movie, with "Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe Goes to the Louvre" released in May 2023 and the second installment, " Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe: At a Confessional," released in May 2025.
◇ "Izumi Kyoka Will Not Be Silent" Synopsis
"That's a terrible thing to say!" Izumi Kyoka raised her voice during a meeting with Kishibe Rohan. The cause was Nishion Mika, a new manga artist whose series Kyoka had just launched. Kyoka boasted about the series' massive success of 2 million copies, but Rohan sharply criticized her, saying, "Her dialogue is intense, but her art and story are ordinary and unbalanced. There's something wrong with this manga artist." Kyoka became furious and stormed out.
However, Kyoka also felt something was off about Mika. Their meetings were always over the phone, and she had never met Mika in person. She didn't know how Mika drew her manga either. Driven by anxiety, Kyoka went to the Nishion residence and forced her way into a face-to-face meeting with Mika, but no matter how much she spoke, Mika wouldn't answer. Instead, it was her brother, Soushi, who stood right beside Mika, who answered.
