A promotional video for "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash - The Witch of Circe," the second chapter of the theatrical anime film series "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash " (directed by Shuko Murase), has been released on YouTube following its theatrical release.
The video focuses on the inner turmoil of Hathaway Noah, caught between complex emotions, and also features Amuro Ray and the ν Gundam deploying its Fin Funnels. Famous lines such as "Then, right now, bestow wisdom upon all you fools!" are also uttered.
Hathaway, having decided to live as the leader of Mafty and rebelling against the Earth Federation government, has a vivid resurgence of childhood trauma when he sees the silhouette of a mass-produced ν Gundam during a battle with Lane Aim.
"Hathaway's Flash" is based on a novel published between 1989 and 1990 by director Yoshiyuki Tomino, known as the "creator" of the "Gundam" series. Set in Universal Century 0105, the story follows Hathaway, the son of Bright Noa, who experienced a bitter separation during the Second Neo Zeon War, as he pilots the new mobile suit XI Gundam and rebels against the Earth Federation government.
The anime was announced to consist of three chapters, with the first chapter released in June 2021. The second chapter has been a hit, grossing over 2.24 billion yen in just 29 days since its release on January 30th.
A special screening event, "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack Hathaway: The Witch of Circe x Char's Counterattack," featuring a double feature of "The Witch of Circe" and the 1988 animated film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack" (directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino), titled "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash: The Witch of Circe x Char's Counterattack Double Feature Screening ~UC0093-0105~," is being held for a limited time of three days from March 13th to 15th.
