The eighth episode of the drama series "Reunion ~Silent Truth~" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9 PM), starring actor Ryoma Takeuchi, aired on March 10th. Towards the end of the episode, there was a scene in which Makiko (Mao Inoue) confessed to Junichi (Ryoma Takeuchi) and others about her past, something she had kept secret up until then, which caused a stir on social media.

In episode 8, it is revealed that the real culprit who shot and killed supermarket manager Sakuma Hideyuki (Koyanagi Tomo) is not Naoto (Watanabe Daichi), who confessed to the crime, but Makiko, who was being blackmailed by the victim... Junichi is convinced that Naoto is protecting Makiko, but Naoto refuses to retract his confession, saying, "There are some things that only Maki and I know."
At the same time, Makiko, who is believed to have secretly taken the murder weapon, a gun that Naoto had hidden, disappears with her son, Masaki (Miura Kira). The worst-case scenario crosses Junichi's mind, and Junichi and Makiko's ex-husband, Kiyohara Keisuke (Koji Seto), feel uneasy.
Meanwhile, Keisuke tells Junichi, "I'm hiding something from you," and goes to see Detective Minami Ryo (Noriko Eguchi). Keisuke reveals that Hideyuki wasn't satisfied with the initial 300,000 yen he gave them, and that he had threatened to contact their son's school if they didn't agree to a further deal, demanding Makiko's body. Meanwhile, persuaded by Junichi, Naoto confesses that he didn't kill Hideyuki... and so the story unfolds.
Later, Junichi and the others receive a call and speak with Makiko. Makiko confesses, "I killed Sakuma," and reveals that in high school, Hideyuki assaulted her on the way home from Naoto's tutoring, and that as a result, she moved to Yokohama soon after.
During a transaction with Hideyuki, Hideyuki points the gun he had stolen from Naoto at Makiko, but Makiko takes the gun and shoots Hideyuki as he attacks her. After revealing everything, Makiko goes to Minami Ryo with Junichi and the others and confesses, "I shot the manager of Smile Sakuma with the gun." After returning the gun to Minami Ryo, Makiko is handcuffed by Junichi while Keisuke and Naoto look on.
Social media was in an uproar after Makiko's horrific past was revealed. Comments like "My brother is such a bastard..." "This is so depressing," "It's painful...too painful," "I feel so sorry for Makiko," "I'm speechless at this disgusting turn of events..." "This was self-defense, right..." "I'd shoot him," and "I'm crying my eyes out" were all posted, almost like screams.
