The TV anime "Midori no Makibao," based on Tsunomaru's popular horse racing manga, has celebrated its 30th anniversary. To commemorate the 30th anniversary, a special website has been launched, and the opening and ending videos have been released on YouTube.
It was also announced that a soft vinyl figure of Cascade, the "Jet-Black Emperor," will be released this winter. OK COFFEE, which produces anime collaboration coffee, will release an original blend inspired by Makibao, called "Makibao Blend." A collaboration cafe will open this spring.
"Midori no Makibao" is a popular manga that was serialized in the manga magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1994 to 1998. It depicts the exploits of Midori Makibao, a thoroughbred racehorse with the blood of famous horses, but with the appearance of a donkey. An anime TV series aired from 1996 to 1997.
