It has been revealed that actress Toko Miura will be taking on her first solo play in the play "Prima Facie - Listen to My Voice," which is scheduled to be performed in six cities - Tokyo, Gunma, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Osaka, and Hyogo - from July to August.
"Prima Facie" is a one-person play written by Australian playwright Susie Miller in 2019. Since then, it has been tackled by talented actors from around the world, and will now be performed in Japan for the first time.
The title is derived from a legal term of Latin origin meaning "prima facie fact" or "strong evidence unless otherwise proven."
The story unfolds against the backdrop of the British courtroom and judicial system. Miura plays Tessa Ensler, a spirited trial lawyer whose only goal is victory. An incident puts her in the position of a victim overnight, and as she experiences extreme emotional turmoil, what is it that she is facing, pursuing, and fighting for? The story is directed by Tamiya Kuriyama.
