Actor Junki Tozuka attended the press conference for the completion of the spin-off drama "Yamada Todoroki Law Office" (General TV, March 20th, 9:30pm), of the NHK morning drama "The Tiger and Her Wings," held at the NHK Broadcasting Center in Shibuya, Tokyo on February 27th. He spoke about his feelings about the spin-off being realized.
"The Tiger and Her Wings" is an original story based on the life of Yoshiko Mibuchi (1914-1984), Japan's first female lawyer and later a judge, with Sairi Ito playing the heroine, Torako Inozume. "Yamada Todoroki Law Office" depicts the unknown episodes surrounding the establishment of Yamada Todoroki Law Office by Torako's best friends, Yamada Yone (Shiori Doi) and Todoroki Taichi (Totsuka). The story incorporates extensive backstories of Yone and Todoroki, depicting the world of "The Tiger and Her Wings" from the perspective of a lawyer.
Tozuka, who played Todoroki, said, "While we were filming the main story, I said, 'I hope we can do a spin-off about Yamada and Todoroki.' That wish has actually come true, and it made me realize once again that this is a work that is loved by so many people." He smiled and said, "Surprisingly, we don't see Todoroki at work very often in the main story. I was really happy that we were finally able to portray him as a lawyer in the spin-off."
The press conference was also attended by Shiori Doi and Chief Producer Ozaki Hirokazu, who is in charge of production.
