Actress Yuki Amami will appear on the talk variety show "Shabekuri 007" (Nippon TV), which will air from 9:00 p.m. on February 9th.
On this day, eight of Amami's former students who appeared with her on the 2005 drama "Queen's Classroom," which was broadcast on the same station and in which she starred, gathered in the studio, marking their first reunion in 21 years.
Amami played Akutsu Maya, a cold-hearted teacher who controlled her class with absolute authority and hammered home the harsh reality to her students. Looking back on that time, she said, "It was fine for the students to become friends with each other, but I never said a word to them," "I didn't mind if they disliked me," and "If I wavered, it wouldn't highlight their (child actors') acting."
Amami confessed her feelings by saying, "I really wanted to talk to everyone a lot," and the eight "former students" cast members recalled the tension they felt during filming, saying, "We didn't chat at all," and "Even when we passed each other and said, 'Good morning,' (Amami) would just say, 'Good morning,' without smiling." On the other hand, they said, "I was really happy just to have my name called," revealing that Amami was someone they looked up to.
The show has recorded high viewer ratings of over 20%, but has also received complaints about its harsh content at times. Amami spoke of her determination as she approached filming, saying, "I'm sure people will accept it someday," and "Everyone is working so hard."
