To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi, Monday to Friday at 1:00 p.m.), "Celebrating! Tetsuko's Room's 50th Anniversary: A Super Luxurious Celebration Special with the Whole Entertainment Industry" will be broadcast from 5:00 p.m. to 8:56 p.m. on February 1st (excluding some areas).
The guests include Snow Man's Meguro Ren, Sanma Akashiya and Tsurube Shofutei, the Asada sisters Mai and Mao, Rie Miyazawa, Remi Hirano, Michiko Shimizu and Ryoko Moriyama, Kotaro Koizumi, Chisako Takashima and Shingo Fujimori, Akira Terao, Junji Takada and Yoshizumi Ishihara, Sandwich Man's Mikio Date and Takeshi Tomizawa, and Hikaru Utada, a total of 18 people who will be appearing to celebrate the program's memorable milestone.
In Tsurube-san and Sanma-san's block, the usual "Card Talk" segment was a big hit, and a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary was also held. As a surprise from the two, a special five-tiered cake was brought to the studio to celebrate Kuroyanagi's achievements. The cake was decorated with photos of Kuroyanagi from the first broadcast in 1976 and other times, as well as her beloved pandas and roses, and Kuroyanagi was delighted, exclaiming, "Amazing! Amazing!"
When Sanma urged, "Can you please extinguish the candle flame?", Kuroyanagi was confused and replied, "This? No way (laughs)," but she surprised the two by blowing out the flame with an incredible lung capacity that is hard to believe for a 92-year-old. Then, when Tsurube and Sanma sang a birthday song, "Happy Birthday, 50 years of Tetsuko's Room," Kuroyanagi commented on their slightly low-pitched singing, "Is this hell?"
Kuroyanagi is enthusiastic about "Tetsuko's Room," saying, "I want to continue hosting it until I'm 100!" In this special, which will be the "culmination of half a century," she will look back on the program's history and talk with a variety of guests. There will also be a ton of Kuroyanagi's usual "unreasonable requests" for her guests.
