The new cast for the NHK morning drama "Kaze, Kaoru," starring Ai Mikami and Juri Uesaka, which will air in the first half of 2026, has been announced on the drama's official website (@asadora_nhk), and it has been revealed that actor Rin Harashima will be joining the cast. Harashima, who will be appearing in her first morning drama, will play Tome Kudo, a classmate from the training school.
Tome, played by Harashima, is the youngest daughter of a wealthy farming family from Aomori Prefecture. After losing her family, she enrolls in a nursing school. She has the determination to overcome difficulties and is also a mood maker.
Harashima expressed her joy at being cast in the morning drama, saying, "I am so happy that my heart is filled with joy, and at the same time, I feel a great honor. I have been watching morning dramas with my family since I was a child, and it has always been something I have longed for. Kudo Tome is a strong-willed girl who goes at her own pace but brings a gentle breeze to those around her. I would like to carefully address each of her doubts and confusion, and portray her honest feelings. I will do my best in this production so that I can become a presence that gently accompanies you in the morning."
She continued, "I think this is a work that will deliver a warm moment to viewers, making them feel as if they are cheering on the life of someone close to them. I am happy to be able to participate as a part of such a morning drama, but at the same time I feel a great sense of responsibility. Because this is my first time, I would like to learn everything carefully and approach the role with sincerity."
"Kaze, Kaoru" is the 114th serial TV drama. Set in the Meiji era, it is a buddy drama featuring two trained nurses, Ozeki Chika and Suzuki Masa, as its two protagonists. The two graduated from the same nursing school, but struggle with how to interact with patients and doctors, and grow through clashes, eventually becoming the "strongest buddy." Migami plays the lead role of Ichinose Rin, while Uesaka plays Oya Naomi.
